1.Wehrpass and papers to an officer KIA in Russia shortly after the start of Operation Barbarossa. Walter Karl enlisted in the army in 1934 and was originally with Infantry regiment 7, then 77. His active duty career was with Infantry regiment 424, starting in 1939 with the outbreak of war. He was an nco in 1938, then went to officer school in 1940 and was promoted to Leutnant on June 1, 1940. He received the Infantry assault badge and the Iron Cross 2nd class. He fought in Holland, Belgium, France and finally Russia, where he died. Group includes his sport medal document book and a signed letter about him from his father. 2.Great soldbuch and document grouping to a 1944 recruit who quickly rose through the ranks to become a fairly decorated soldier in a short amount of time. He was captrued by the Russians and went to a US POW camp from the looks of the papers. He won the EK II and the black wound badge, both of which documents are included with the grouping. He appears to have been in US custody on April 28, 1945. Grouping includes his soldbuch, EK2 & wound badge documents, letter from the German army to his mother, letter to him awarding the EK2 and document, and 2 US POW capture cards, one being a postcard to his mother to let her know he's OK. Interesting late war grouping. $350 NEW

9. Luftwaffe Hermann Göring division late war soldbuch. Here is the description from a friend of mine who is an expert in soldbuchs and identification documents. "Decent late-war HG Soldbuch issued to Grenadier Guenther Bangel, who apparently was captured by the Russians in 1945. Bangel was born on 24 May 1927 in Langenberg in the Rheinland. His Soldbuch was issued to him by the 12. Kompanie (12th Company) of the II./Fallschirm-Ersatz-und-Ausbildungs-Brigade "Hermann Goering" 1 (IInd Battalion of Parachute Replacement and Training Brigade "Hermann Goering" 1) on 26 October 1944, so he was seventeen when the Soldbuch was issued. Bangel received his basic training with this unit from 26 September to 31 November 1944. On 1 December 1944, he transferred to the 8. Grenadier Kompanie (8th Grenadier Company) of the same battalion. On 22 December 1944, he was transferred to the 1./Feld-Ersatz-Bataillon 2 "Hermann Goering" (1st Company of Field Replacement Battalion 2 "Hermann Goering"), which would have put him near or at the front, where he was captured sometime in 1945." Never had a photo, but 2 small group photos came with it and are included. Excellent + condition. $325
